Daniel Rayney - 200 Premier League Matches

Published Sun 28 May 2023

On 20 May 2023, the WASPs Premier 1 Men's round 8 fixture against Curtin University was a milestone game for Daniel Rayney, who brought up his 200th Premier League appearance for the club.

Daniel first showcased his impressive skill on the grass fields at Richardson Park as a minkey player before playing up an age group for several years with his older brother, Kieran. Since then, Daniel has gone on to become one of the most talented and highly skilled players in the Premier League competition. Not only does Daniel possess amazing skills, his willingness to put his body on the line often sees him finishing a game with his knees and elbows bloodied.

An integral member of the Premier 1 team during the premiership years of 2016 and 2019, Daniel has also represented WA with the Thundersticks on several occasions.

Not content to leave his contribution solely on field, Daniel plays an active role on several club committees and does invaluable work for the WASPs behind the scenes.

While a scrappy 2-1 win over Curtin and a badly broken nose put a dampener on what should have been a weekend of celebration, we have no doubt that Daniel will continue to play a pivotal role in the men’s Premier League team and will enjoy many more milestones moving forward.

Congratulations Daniel on 200 brilliant games of hockey in the yellow, black and green!
